Gameplay:
The game-play is similar to as the first part of this game that is outlast. The game has evolved from the first part. ThereA are some features added in it such as players can now run and crouch behind the objects to avoid their pursuers players also can hide within various places, it can be anything like barrels, lockers or a water pool. The developers increased the running abilities like players can slide when they are running. Players can now increase their health by using bandages provided at different places in game. This however takes few seconds and can disrupted by nearby enemies. Its night vision can be implemented to help the player navigate through darkness, however batteries are required to keep to camera running. The camcorder makes it return, with a slightly different HUD and overall appearance.

Plot:
The game takes place in the same universe as of the first part Outlast. After the vents of the mount Massive Asylum Slaughter Murkoff is also scheduled to make their appearance. According to the developers, the main setting takes place in a scheduled village, located somewhere in the canyons of arizona. Blake langermann , a cameraman, with his wife Lynn, travel to southern Arizona to investigate the murder of a Jane Doe. The women was previously found eight months pregnant  by the side of the road, before committing suicide in the hospital that she was brought to, according to the facility's records. Due to the desert climate and the region being inaccessible by land vehicles, the two take a chopper to reach their destination, which ends up crashing from unknown complications. Blake wakes up sometime later, with Lynn nowhere in sight. Later, Blake realizes that he's been stranded in a village with cult members  that believe the end of times are upon them. His main goal is to find Lynn and escape alive from the hostile villagers.
